Corina del Carmel

This month in the Maurice del Mue galleries at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center we're fortunate to have the work of Corina del Carmel.


Corina was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, an industrial city of Northern Mexico.

She started painting at the age of twelve and eventually enrolled in Visual Arts at the University of Nuevo Leon but considers herself a self-taught artist.  After graduating with a degree in graphic arts she traveled throughout Mexico.


Corina lived and painted among the Tarahumara Indians in the Copper Canyon, Huichol Indians, the Mixtecs in Oaxaca and the Mayan of Yucatan and Chiapas.

She’s traveled and exhibited internationally throughout the United States, Mexico and Europe.She’s exhibited at Stanford University, the Mexican Embassy in Berlin, Vorpal Gallery, Gallery Turquesa, Yucatan, Castle Honthart, Frankenhart, Germany, Gallery Panov, Santa Fe, Gallery Coqui in Seattle and the October Gallery in London among other venues.

Corina was 2014-15 artist resident in Arterra, Todela, Portugal and later this year will serve as an artist-in residence in Turkey.

This is Corina's second solo exhibit with SGVCC. The show runs until the end of June.
